Though, DVT could be prevented by simple measures, like exercising during a flight, wearing compression stockings, and drinking plenty of water.

    1. Get fit prior to flying - You can reduce the risk of developing DVT by being a fit, healthful and active individual.  Quit smoking and get routine workouts to lower your blood pressure level. When you have lower blood pressure level and a healthful weight, you won't just lower your risk of developing DVT, but also set up yourself to enjoy your holiday more.

    2. Wear graduated compression socks. Health professionals recommend those especially at risk of developing DVT, individuals with high blood pressure level, elderly and fat people, women that are pregnant, or individuals with a disease or a history of DVT, to wear stockings with graduated compression as they help the blood circulation in the legs while flying. Graduated compression stockings work by exerting strain around the ankles, and the strain progressively getting less tight. They are very different from regular reinforcement socks - with pressure through the leg, which may actually cut off your bloodcirculation. When choosing compression stockings, get measured properly in order to find out what compression stockings are the best fit for your legs.
